Application can be made at any time. However, applications sent by March 15th will be reviewed for the spring meeting and applications sent by September 15th will be reviewed for the fall meeting.
Applicants should provide the Applicant Information below and submit one copy of a proposal (no more than 7-10 pages in a single PDF file not larger than 4MB).
Proposal
The Foundation does not have a required proposal format. It will accept proposals prepared in a “common application” format or that have been used with other foundations. The submitted proposal must provide the following:
- Background of the organization (when/why it was founded, who is involved and provides leadership, what it has achieved, how it engages in organizing and advocacy, and its decision making structure).
- Description of the work that the grant will support: give current and recent examples of organizing campaigns and results.
- Explanation of the need for the organization.
- Description of the impact the project will have: what change is being sought.
- Brief bios of key staff and board officers.
- Data about Board and staff: how many, race, ethnicity, gender, and people with disabilities.
- Current organizational budget: (both expenses, including salaries of each staff person, and income).
- Current private supporters list with names and grant amounts.

We recommend that you use our online form to submit your application. When you submit this application you will be sent an email acknowledging its receipt. Remember to check your Spam folder. NOTE that all fields are required.

We strongly prefer that organizations submit applications using the above online form.

Review Process
The review process takes about three to four months. The Board of Directors meets twice a year, generally in June and December. Once the Board has made its decisions, applicants will be notified either by email or phone.
